Check out our tutorial video on how to set up the general product information:
Product Name
The product name is limited to 150 characters and part of the algorithm to help customers find products based on their searches.
Marketplace Categories
Spicerack Market will have set Categories and subcategories for you to choose when adding a product to your Product Catalog. These are called Market Categories. Market Categories have Main categories which are the "parent categories" and then they may get broken down further into more specific sub-categories. You want to choose the lowest level of category when choosing a Market Category for your products so that they will appear to customers searching within the relevant sub-categories.
For example, you are creating a listing for a headband that you make for festivals. You would choose the lowest category/subcategory for this listing which would be: Apparel>Rave/Festival>Headwear.
We welcome your input for adding more relevant Market Categories and sub-sategories so please feel free to send us a message with requests for us to review. You can request a category here.
Spicerack reserves the right to modify the Market Categories allocation to products listed in any shop if it is determined by us to be a more appropriate placement.
Shop Categories:
Shop Categories are how you would segment the items in your shop. For example let's say you only sell your festival headwear products and have 40 different listings. You can create Shop Categories so that customers looking at your shop can easily find what they are looking for such as Festival Headwear segmented by season, colors, themes, etc.
Shop Categories could be created while setting up a product or by going to the SHOP CATEGORIES tab on the dashboard side panel under the PRODUCTS tab.
Price
Set the price for the product you're listing but keep in mind that this price will be unused if you create product Features for variations that will have varied pricing. (Learn more about setting up Features with Variations in this tutorial).
Processing Time
This is the maximum number of business days it will take you to process the order and get the shipment out the door.
Description
This field is where you can add detailed information about your product. Don't forget to use relevant keywords and phrases but only in a way that is natural without just "keyword stuffing" that won't make sense in conversational language.
Allow Notes
Set this to YES, If you want the customer to have a textbox to leave a note when purchasing this product. This is great for allowing customers to let you know specifics if you offer personalization on your products such as engraving, embroidery etc.
SKU
Having a product sku is optional but just as with the Price & Inventory, if you create product variations with different sku's per variation then this "master sku" will not be used.
Inventory
Your listing will become inactive if your inventory runs out so if you are creating products by order and don't keep inventory on hand then just put a higher number so that you could keep the listing live without selling out (as long as you have enough material to keep producing). As with Price & Sku, if you create product variations with different inventory quantities per variation then this "master inventory" count will not be used.
Keywords & Extras
Add keywords and phrases separated by commas, to help customers find your products. There is a 600 character limit.
Save your information and enable more tabs...
Don't forget to hit the Save button on the top right when you are finished with the general product information and this will open up more tabs for you to add more information needed for your listing.
